Campaigning Bureau of the Year 2009

We are delighted to have been recognised as Campaigning Bureau of the Year by Citizens Advice, for our ‘Hung Up’ report. The report highlights the cost of calling government phone lines from a mobile phone and calls on government to replace 08 numbers with 0300 numbers . The campaign was initiated and led by Tom Royston and Kayley Hignell (pictured), advisers at Leeds CAB.

MP for West Leeds, John Battle, has tabled an Early Day Motion on the issue which has received 73 MP signatures. Leeds CAB has been invited to meet with ministers to discuss the issue, and the Social Security Advisory Committee recently endorsed our recommendations.
